危険人物の入国や不法滞在者の抑止に効果があるとされる ESTA の日本版（仮称：JESTA）の早期導入を明言した石破首相。インバウンド需要増加を目指している政府として自然な動きだと感じました。
エスタ（ESTA）とは
Electronic System for Travel Authorization（電子渡航認証システム）の略で、観光・短期商用などによる 90 日以内の滞在に限り、アメリカ合衆国へのビザ免除プログラム（VWP）を利用して渡航するために必要な事前オンライン認証制度。オーストラリアやカナダ、EU などでも同様の制度が導入されている。
ESTA の目的

渡航者の個人情報や渡航歴などを事前に収集し、テロリストや犯罪歴のある人物、不審な渡航履歴を持つ人の入国を未然に防ぐ。

Prime Minister Ishiba clearly stated the intention to introduce its own ESTA (Tentative Name: JESTA) at an early stage, which is effective in preventing the entry of dangerous individuals and deterring illegal overstays. I felt it was a natural step for a government aiming to boost inbound tourism demand.
What is ESTA?
ESTA stands for the Electronic System for Travel Authorization. It is an online pre-travel authorization system required for travelers visiting the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) for stays of up to 90 days for tourism or short-term business purposes. Similar systems have also been implemented in Australia, Canada, the European Union, and so on.
